About
Dr. Westreich is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. She obtained her doctorate at St. John’s University in Flushing, NY. She trained with Dr. Dawn Flanagan and Dr. Sam Ortiz, experts in the field of learning disabilities and educational assessment. She has spent the past 10 years working both in the private sector and within the Alief ISD Public Schools and YES Prep Charter Schools.
As a practitioner, Dr. Westreich specializes in conducting psychological and psycho-educational assessments for children. These assessments help identify any learning obstacles that may be hindering their academic progress. She provides individualized recommendations to address referral concerns. These recommendations may involve implementing effective school accommodations, developing home strategies for parents, or scheduling follow up interventions with other providers (therapists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, or academic/executive functioning tutors).
Dr. Westreich takes a strength-based approach to her work, striving to identify and leverage student’s strengths to address any weaknesses impacting their academic and/or home performance. With a wealth of experience working in the public school system, she is adept at creating customized recommendations that are tailored to both public and private school settings. In addition, Dr. Westreich has extensive experience supporting families as they navigate the often complex process of securing appropriate school services for their children.
To begin the testing process, Dr. Westreich schedules an intake session with the child’s parents to gather relevant developmental history and pertinent background information. This information is crucial in informing her about the referral concern and guiding her selection of appropriate testing instruments.
The testing itself typically takes place over 1-2 sessions. Following the testing sessions, data is collected, scored, and summarized into a comprehensive report that is shared with the parent during a 30-minute feedback session.
Dr. Westreich offers her services both in her Houston office and within the school settings. While she does not accept insurance, she is happy to provide a super bill (a list of insurance codes) to clients seeking out-of-network benefits.
When Dr. Westreich is not working; she enjoys spending time on the baseball field with her husband, 3 boys, and 1 princess.
